The Carole Robertson Center for Learning was awarded a $1.15M Community Development Grant by Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development (DPD), which will support capital improvements to our Little Village flagship site.
One of 14 projects selected for city funding out of 240 proposals, renovation plans include the construction of a new multi-purpose Discovery Center, a state-of-the-art library, indoor play spaces, and substantial remodeling throughout the entire facility.
Currently, our Little Village flagship site serves more than 300 children ages 0-17 in Chicago’s West and Southwest sides through year-round early childhood and youth development programming. The Center’s presence as a neighborhood anchor also drives local job creation, and access to high-quality education options.

Mayor Brandon Johnson presents the 14 finalists for the city’s Community Development Grants, which total to $30M in neighborhood investment.
“Especially now, it is imperative that we build—and invest in—spaces where every young learner can feel a sense of belonging and reach their fullest potential,” said Erica Rangel, Senior Director of Development. “We are immensely grateful to the City of Chicago for recognizing how our mission to educate, enrich, and empower children and families contributes to a brighter, more equitable city.”
