Congratulations to Chief of Staff Laura Hool on joining the Civic Leadership Academy‘s cohort!
Offered by the University of Chicago Center for Effective Government, the Civic Leadership Academy is an interdisciplinary program that brings government and nonprofit leaders together to exchange ideas, refine their strategic decisionmaking skills, and catalyze systems change in Chicago and Cook County.
The program will culminate in a collaborative final project addressing social issues affecting Chicago and a certificate in civic leadership from the Harris School of Public Policy.
“Through the Civic Leadership Academy, I’m excited to learn from—and alongside—a diverse cohort of changemakers committed to a more equitable Chicago,” Laura said. “I’m even more eager to bring what I learn back to the Carole Robertson Center as we grow strategically in our mission to educate, enrich, and empower children and families.”
In addition to being selected to join this year’s cohort, Laura received the program’s Jessica Bryar Scholarship, which is awarded every year to a Civic Leadership Academy fellow who exemplifies commitment to the most marginalized members of the community.
